Crafting Motion and Visual Direction for the Mind Oasis App

Mind Oasis is a multisensory space where haptics, audio and visual design work together to create calm and restorative experiences. This project focused on defining the visual and motion language for the app’s soundscapes and background environments, expressing both the emotional quality of each state and the subtle resonance of the Mind Oasis mattress.

Soundscape Visuals & Animation
In the Mind Oasis App different soundscapes - Sleep, Recharge, Recover and Focus, help the user ease into the state they need most. To support this transition, each soundscape is paired with soft, grounded visuals that move in harmony with gentle audio, creating a sense of balance, clarity and calm.

Every state has its own carefully curated color palette, chosen to reflect its emotional tone. Muted blues for Sleep, greens for Recharge, warm orange for Recover, and cool purples for Focus - all subtle enough to soothe while still expressive in character.

The visual language is built around watercolor textures, shaping simple symbolic forms that represent each mental state. Rather than sitting on top of the interface, the icons blend into the background, blooming softly through ink-like diffusion and fluid color movement. The result is a gentle, unified visual experience that guides without ever distracting.

The motion direction is based in ink bloom - pigment spreads outward in fluid waves, as if soaking into wet paper. Shapes and details emerge gradually, their edges feathering and flowing in an organic, painterly motion.

Background Motion Direction
The background motion was inspired by the mattress’s haptic vibrations. Slow wave-driven motion moves across the surface, while illumination rises gently from the core of the pattern. The effect is rhythmic, calm and continuous, providing an atmospheric layer that enhances the interface without distraction.
